In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
Set aside.
Now, in a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, beat softened butter and sugars with a mixer until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; mix well.
Step 3
Add your flour mixture to the butter mixture; mix well. Stir in chocolate chips.
Step 4
Next, press dough into pan cavities, filling approximately ¾ full.

Allow them to cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Then, remove the cookies and cool them completely on a cooling rack.

Can I use a heart shaped cookie cutter instead? Or, is the pan necessary for the cookies to keep a heart shape while baking? Also, if I wait for the cookies to cool before putting sprinkles on them, won't the sprinkles just fall off instead of stick to the cookie?
Erin Henry
Because this is not a dough you can roll out, a cookie-cutter would be hard to use. Plus, it will spread during baking and ruin the heart shape. If adding sprinkles, yes, put them on while your cookies are a little warm for best results.

My favorite Chocolate Chip cookies are soft in the middle with just a bit of crisp on the outside edge. And they make the best milk dippers. I think I may have to whip up a batch for a gift...to myself! LOL Happy Valentines Day!
Erin
They do make good dunkers if they have a little crisp on the outside! They are quick to whip up, so enjoy!
Ann
These look delicious! I may have to do some baking this weekend.
