10 Reasons to Drink More Water

Here are 10 life-changing reasons to drink more water:
1. Drinking Water Helps Maintain the Balance of Body Fluids
Water is essential for the proper circulation of nutrients in your body. Water serves as the body's transportation system, and when we are not appropriately hydrated, things can't get around as well and do their job.
Did you know drinking enough water can also help regulate your body temperature? It may also help relieve headaches.
2. Water Can Help Control Calories
It's interesting; we often think we are hungry when we are just thirsty. For those trying to shed some pounds, staying hydrated can be an appetite suppressant and help with weight loss.

3. Have Less Joint Pain
Drinking water can reduce joint pain by keeping the cartilage soft and hydrated. As we age, this is important to keep in mind.
4. Prevent Headaches
Sometimes headaches can be caused by dehydration, so drinking water can prevent or alleviate that awful pain. Next time your head hurts, try drinking some water.
5. Make Your Skin Glow
Our skin is the largest organ in our body. Regular and plentiful water consumption can improve skin color and texture by building new cells properly. Yeah! Drinking water also helps the skin do its job of regulating the body's temperature through sweating.
Dehydration is one of the primary causes of those dreaded wrinkles, so hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
It's also important to detox. Have you tried using Lavender Bath Salts?
6. It Can Improve Mood
Research says dehydration can affect your mood and make you grumpy and confused. Boo! Be happier and think more clearly by drinking a bit more water.

7. Prevent Cancer
Yep, it's true – various research says staying hydrated can reduce the risk of colon cancer by 45%, bladder cancer by 50%, and possibly reduce breast cancer risk as well. This is excellent news!
8. Maintains Regularity
Our digestive system needs water to function correctly. Waste is flushed out in the form of urine and sweat. If we don't drink enough water, we don't flush out waste properly, which collects in our bodies, causing many problems. Ick!
Also combined with fiber {which is also good for weight management}, water can cure constipation.
9. Boosts Immune System
Water flushes toxins from your body. Drinking enough, especially during winter, can help you stay healthier.

10. Save Money!
Water is free. Why spend money on high-calorie, sugary drinks or fancy coffee when you have what you need right at home?
Grab a water bottle before heading out of the house, and you're covered! Nice!
Did you know sugary drinks and pop can cause health issues like type-2 diabetes and heart disease? Another great reason to choose water!
Try drinking water first thing in the morning and see what happens. It can be a powerful tool to rehydrate your body and get things moving!
5 Tips to Help You Drink More
If you think you need to be drinking more, here are some tips to increase your water intake and reap the amazing benefits of water:
- Have a beverage (water preferably) with every snack and meal.
- Choose beverages you enjoy; you're likely to drink more liquids if you like how they taste.
- Eat more fruits and vegetables. Their high water content will add to your hydration. About 20% of our fluid intake comes from foods.
- Keep a bottle of water with you in your car, at your desk, or in your bag. One for your kids, too!
- Drink half your body weight in ounces of water each day (for example, if you weigh 160 lbs, drink 80 ounces of water). More if you're exercising or nursing.
Stay healthy and be the best you every day!

Now if only I can get my kids to drink water. I send them everywhere with a water ottos, to have it come home unused.
Erin
Yes, that can definitely be a challenge. We started young with the habit with the kids, so now they grab one every time we go out. We have a lot of water bottles all over the place, but at least they're drinking it 🙂

A fantastic list! I used to be a pop addict! But I've found that since drinking more water (as in, I rarely have pop anymore, maybe once a month) I crave more water. That is my beverage of choice. I also found I drink much more of it when it's cold, and through a straw! Whatever takes. 🙂
Erin
Good for you, Chellile! Water is a great alternative to pop. Whatever it takes is right 🙂 Thanks for popping by!

Drinking more water is always beneficial. We always drink water at night before hitting the bed and hat water after waking up. It helps in keeping the digestive system fully functional. It also saves from high blood pressure and stroke.
Erin
You're totally right, it does keep the digestive system working well. Good job drinking before bed! Best to you in 2016!
