Ingredient Notes
Ok, this is going to be soooo easy to make this perfect Halloween treat!
- Pretzel Squares - square pretzels give you a nice flat surface to pipe your chocolate bandages onto.
- White Chocolate Chips or White Candy Melts (Candy Wafers)
- Candy Googly Eyes - you'll need small candy eyes to place on the melted chocolate.
The full recipe and instructions are below in the printable recipe card.
Variations
- HALLOWEEN PRETZEL RODS. Make Halloween pretzels by using pretzel rods instead of squares, and dip the top half of the rod in chocolate. Top with Halloween sprinkles.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- PREP: To make this extra easy, grab the ingredients to make your Halloween pretzels recipe before you start—it comes together quickly. Plus, a cookie sheet, parchment paper (or wax paper), and a plastic sandwich bag with the tip cut off one corner to make a disposable piping bag for drizzling on your chocolate (aka mummy bandages).
- MELT CHOCOLATE: Melt your white chocolate or candy melts according to the package instructions. Usually, this involves microwaving and stirring at 30-second intervals until soft. You can also use the double boiler method.
Tip: Make sure to microwave in a glass dish. When you heat food in the microwave using plastic containers or wrap, chemicals may leach out of the container and into the food.
- PIPE CHOCOLATE ON PRETZELS: Place pretzels on a baking sheet lined with parchment. Put the melted white chocolate into the plastic zipper bag and push it down to where the corner is snipped off (Image 1). Pipe the chocolate onto your pretzels in a back-and-forth motion over the top of the pretzel, creating your "mummy bandages" (Image 2).
While still soft, place your googly eyes on the chocolate and push them in.
- REPEAT: Continue making mummy bandages and placing googly eyes for however many mummies you want to make! Let cool for about 30 minutes, and enjoy!
Expert Tips
- CHOCOLATE: For this recipe, you can use white chocolate morsels, bars, or candy melts. Candy Melts tend to harden quicker than white chocolate, but either can be used for making Halloween treats.
- CANDY EYEBALLS: Candy eyes can be found on Amazon or in the baking section of your local grocery store.
- STORING: Chocolate Halloween Pretzels can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week.
FAQs
The candy eyes stick to the melted chocolate on the Halloween pretzels. Just make sure to put the eyeballs on while the chocolate is still soft after melting it.
This Halloween pretzel recipe is a great make-ahead option when planning Halloween parties. Making them one to three days ahead will save you time and stress on the day of your Halloween Party.
